What is the Land Registry in Spain and why does it matter?

The Registro de la Propiedad (Land Registry) is the official public register that records property ownership, boundaries, and any charges or encumbrances in Spain.

After completion, the notary sends the new escritura for registration, which typically takes 2-4 weeks.
